Performance Vauxhall Show Review 2016

- Almost 10,000 enthusiasts flock to UK’s premier Vauxhall Show

- 2,000 hot Vauxhalls on display

- Mk 5 Astra club wins best club stand

It may have been a bit wet, but there was nothing washed out about Britain’s premier event for fans of performance and modified Vauxhalls, which took place at Santa Pod, Beds, at the weekend.

The gloomy weather did nothing to put people off - over 2,000 cars were on display, with a huge number of club stands exhibiting a wide range of tweaked and tuned models from the Vauxhall and Opel stables, attracting nearly 10,000 visitors.

The latest in VXR-badged brilliance and the very best of old-school cool came out to play on the fastest all-asphalt quarter-mile strip in the world. A fantastic selection of static displays also entertained show-goers, with a hotly-contested ‘Show and Shine’ serving as one of the most popular attractions. The competition was strong, but the award went to the sensational Mk4 Astra Bertone Convertible of Mad Vauxhall Club member, James Pearson.

Elsewhere, the prestigious ‘Best Club Stand’ award was presented to the Mk5 Astra Club, while automotive apparel and car care product retailer, Wheel Whores, chose Jake Clarke’s Ferrari five-spoked Arden Blue Mk5 Astra VXR as the winner of the show’s ‘Best Wheels’ award.’
