    PV SHOW 2008 SHOW REPORT

    All previous attendance records smashed.

Santa Pod was once again jam-packed with magnificent modified Vauxhalls as the 8th Performance Vauxhall Show smashed all previous attendance records. Over 12,300 enthusiasts flocked to the venue, on one of the hottest weekends of the year so far.

Action kicked off at noon on Saturday with the Vauxhall-only Run What Ya Brung. Some blistering times were set as racers got in practice for the main event the next day. After the strip closed at 9pm the 3000 plus campers made the most of the bar and evening entertainment until the early hours.

The show itself on Sunday saw a superb array of Vauxhalls old and new. The Nova, celebrating its 25th birthday, enjoyed a special display, while the Total Vauxhall stand had some of their finest feature cars on show. The standard of cars on the club stands was higher than ever, we’d like to thank all the club organisers and members who put together such a great line-up. A special mention goes to The Astra Owners Club. Their well laid out stand with its great variety of cars took the award for Best Club Stand, earning them £500 off their 2009 booking.

The quality of cars in the Park ‘n’ Pose area was also incredibly high. Congratulations to all who secured a place on the day, and especially to the winners whose names appear below.

The 1/4 mile strip was busy all day, the star of the show being Stephan Klasen’s astonishing 600bhp VX220. Stephan took fastest time of the day with an incredible 10.32 second pass. The full list of class winners appears below. The Ten of The Best qualifiers from team Vauxsport were, of course, amongst the quickest runners. We wish them every success at Elvington next month. TV motoring celebrity Mike Brewer made a welcome return as presenter, keeping the crowds entertained and informed throughout. To round the day off he presented awards for the best club stand and the quickest and cleanest cars in the various competitions.

James Ward the lucky winner of the Regal competition, which saw his Astra VXR treated to £1500 worth of tuning equipment. Chris and his team remapped the car on the day, and fitted a dBilas Flowmaster intake. James also took away with him an awesome Magnex exhaust system and some iridium spark plugs.

"Bloody hell, it goes a lot better than it did" said a happy James when we spoke to him. "I think it's running around 285bhp now, it looks a lot quicker" he added.
