PV SHOW OFFICIAL 2009 SHOW REPORT!
The 2009 Performance Vauxhall Show sponsored by Regal Autosport has been another success! For the first time the event moved to a two-day format, and over 4000 campers descended upon Santa Pod during Friday evening, helping to create a genuine festival atmosphere. The weather sadly didn’t keep its side of the bargain though, and we were treated to one of the most unseasonable weekends of the summer so far, with heavy rain and low temperatures. However, dedicated Vauxhall enthusiasts are made of stern stuff, and the rain and mud did little to dampen (sorry!) their spirits.
There were a huge number of clubs present, and an equally impressive variety of events taking place. We saw the Fire Force Jet Car and Andy Frost’s record breaking FD Victor tear down the dragstrip, while stunt supremo Russ Swift put on an incredible driving display from behind the wheel of his fleet of Minis.
Many bargain hunters took advantage of the deals on offer from the trade stands, with Regal offering an on-the-spot remap service, which proved to be very popular. Total Vauxhall took the opportunity to get their new Astra Coupe remapped too!
The Total Vauxhall stand was busy throughout the day, with a diverse selection of past and future feature cars. Star attraction on Saturday was James Waddington’s fully-operational Omega police car, complete with lights and sirens. The exclusive show offer of a Total Vauxhall ‘goody bag’ which contained both the current and previous issues of the mag, a can of Three-In-One oil, an exclusive show sticker sheet, and a pair of catalogues from Demon Tweeks and Adrian Flux respectively for just £4.00 sold by the vanload.
Saturday night saw the ‘Pod Palais’ nightclub open its doors, and hundreds of revellers crammed in to enjoy the music from DJ Richie Don, and have a few drinks into the bargain.

Sunday morning saw an extended period of heavy rain, and for a while it looked like the show was simply going to fizzle out. Then finally around mid-day the skies cleared and we were finally rewarded with some sunshine! The drag strip was able to reopen for business and the atmosphere returned to the PV Show that we’ve come to know and love! Total Vauxhall took advantage of the improved conditions and got their Astra lowered by the S&B Automotive Academy in Bristol, and fitted with a shiny new set of Wolfrace wheels. Meanwhile BTCC and VXRacing driver Matt Neal took a lucky winner down the quarter mile in Vauxhall’s sensational new VXR8 Bathurst S.

Matt was also on hand to help hand out the prizes for the dragstrip shootout and the Park and Pose, so thanks go out to him for taking the time out from his busy schedule to attend the show!
Since the PV Show was launched in 2002, each year has seen excellent weather. Let’s hope normal service is resumed in 2010 and we’ll be set for another record breaker! See you all next year.
