2012 Show Report

PV Show 2012 did the Griffin badge proud on Sunday 10th June at Santa Pod Raceway. The third event in the Adrian Flux Auto Series was a huge great success and the weather was glorious!!

There was some absolutely incredible RWYB action from roaring Vauxhalls tearing up the Santa Pod 1/4 mile drag strip. The club displays and feature cars on the Total Vauxhall stand were something to drool over and admire whilst the Retro & Iconic zone reflected a fantastic range of Vauxhalls through the ages. It was pretty spectacular to see Red Victor 3 in the flesh, the Zero Gravity BMX stunt team perform their amazing tricks and to watch the tyre shredding drift taxis and car crushing Podzilla Monster Truck in the Live Action Arena. If you were there you will understand what made PV so great this year – if you weren’t, read our report to get a flavour of what you missed!

Total Vauxhall Magazine Stand

The magazine team created quite a buzz around the stand with their selection of old, new and rally cars! Hand picked by the editorial team for an extremely varied display. Ones to mention would be the very slick new 276bhp Astra VXR (supplied by Vauxhall themselves!), ex-Russell Brookes Opel Manta rally car, Adam Beard’s twin-C20LET Corsa B and Tom Cowle, big-power Astra Coupe turbo!!!

And it wasn’t just cars that were bringing in the crowds on the Total Vauxhall stand we had a PV engagement! Congratulations again to the happy couple. Will the wedding car be a Vauxhall by any chance?!

Drag Strip

This year saw everything from Cavaliers to Novas and Astras to Manaros light up their tyres as they entertained the crowds by racing up the legendary Santa Pod 1/4 mile drag strip. Red Victor 3, driven by Andy Frost made its long awaited return to PVS and he definitely didn’t disappoint by tearing up the strip in a super fast time after enveloping the whole start line in a thick cloud of tyre smoke! This 1979 MK1 fully tubed chassis was visually something of beauty and power!

Podzilla Monster Truck

Podzilla the resident Santa Pod Monster Truck made its debut at PV, showing off its power, by crushing not 1, not 2 but 5 cars on its way. Massive salute to Drew Thornton the driver, who was plucked out of retirement to show you guys what 427ci Talldeck Chevy motor can do! Check out the video now as you almost feel you are inside this beast of a truck!

Zero Gravity BMX Stunt Team

These guys defied the rules of gravity at the weekend using a bespoke ramp to do tons of jumps and tricks in the sky! These professional BMX riders built their reputation with Zero Gravity for producing spectacular, awe-inspiring entertainment which most definitely delivered at the PV Show. Please do not try and recreate the tricks at home!

Drift Taxis

Once again the Chizfab boys were wowing the crowds and passengers with their sideways antics; this year saw the return of the ’3 Omegas’‚ one of which was complete with flashing undercover Police lights!

Power & Style Awards

Entries for this year’s Power & Style Awards in association with SFS Performance came in thick and fast! The worthy winner was tough to judge though and we can announce it was Ben Smith with his Astra Arden VXR. Well done to Ben, who gets £150 SFS Performance voucher to spend as he chooses!
